Although a native Floridian, Ms. Rogers has been living and working in Prince George’s County for the past 38 years. Primarily working with watercolor and pastels, she also designs and sells beaded jewelry. She has a degree in Theatre from Florida Southern College, has studied photography at Prince George’s Community College, and continues to study painting at the Montpelier Arts Center. Some of the places that her work has been displayed are the Maryland State House in Annapolis, the Director’s Office of MNCPP, Montpelier Arts Center, ArtDC in Hyattsville, MD, Franklin’s Restaurant in Hyattsville, MD, and ARTOMATIC 2015.
From an early age I have had a love of color and a strong desire to create. After taking a journey through a number of media I discovered watercolor twenty years ago. I try to put my love of the outdoors into the scenes I paint. Because I respond to a strong sense of place, I endeavor to reflect that in my landscapes and in glimpses of stray bits of americana. After a workshop on collage, I began using painted pieces, paper and 3-D images to create collages. Because I divide my time between Maryland, Maine and Florida, their influence can be seen in much of my work.
