If you want to see the spirit of the Hyattsville arts community, there’s no better day than the annual Hyattsville Arts and Ales Festival. Browse handmade paintings, photographs, jewelry and crafts from local artists — “commercial merchandise” is shunned — and watch music and dance performances, or join in family activities. Maryland craft breweries, wineries and meaderies will sell their drinks at booths throughout the festival, ranging from Flying Dog and the Brewer’s Art to hometown favorite Franklin’s. Free. Beers and food sold a la carte.
