Event Coordinator, 2017 Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival
Now entering its 10th Year, the Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival remains one of Prince George’s County’s premier arts events. The festival attracts over 4,500 visitors to the Gateway Arts District and features over 100 exhibiting artists and a variety of musical and dance performances. Under Hyattsville CDC management since 2011, the festival has grown from 43 exhibitors to 130. For the second year, the Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival will also play host to a craft brewers’ festival: a festival within a festival, coordinated with the Brewers Association of Maryland: Arts & Ales. Every year, in addition to growing and enhancing the festival itself, as a community development organization we seek to link other programming goals to the festival as an event and as an occasion to communicate with so many artists, entrepreneurs and community members. These linkages take on greater meaning in successive years as it relates to our strategic goals. The position will provide the selected applicant a unique opportunity to help shape our community engagement.
The Festival Coordinator is an integral player in the coordination of the overall delivery of a successful event. They will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with the HCDC staffers that are coordinating overall marketing and fundraising efforts to meet the festival’s objectives.
This is a temporary, term-limited, full-time position for a period of +/- five months with the possibility of extension dependent upon program needs and funding.
