Hyattsville Community Arts Alliance (HCAA)
Hyattsville Community Arts Alliance is a non-profit organization founded in 1995. The association is comprised of over 60 prestigious painters, sculptors, photographers, fine crafts makers, poets and musicians, primarily from the local region.
HCAA curates numerous exhibits, working in conjunction with the City of Hyattsville, the Gateway Arts District and the Prince George's Arts and Humanities Council to provide artists with exhibition space and the community with art program venues.
HCAA's ongoing programs (bi-monthly exhibits,) at Franklin's Brewery & Restaurant, Prince George’s Plaza Community Center, Old Line Wine & Spirits, Doctors Community Hospital, Galaxy Homes, Inc, and Fleishers of Maryland, and Robert Harper Books of Riverdale Park, MD. We have also shown at University Town Center, Hyattsville, the WSSC Building Gallery, in Laurel and NBC Asman Gallery in Washington DC.
HCAA is active in the community and supports arts education. In past years, it has used its funds to produce children's workshops and provided scholarships for after school art programs. Members have received seed money and support to start local after school art and seniors' workshops. We have supported non- profits in fundraising such as the Anacostia Watershed Society, and Concern ( Treatment Foster Care Program), and Art Works Now. We have received grants from Verizon’s Matching Gift program through volunteer members and through ART Lives Here, with the Artists/Business Collaboration Project, and from the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council for Art Spin 2015! Our Art Critique is open to the public and held the last Saturday of the month.
